YOUR INFORMATION

Privacy policy

Last updated: 29 October 2026

Quiet keeps your call rules and call activity on your phone. Optional account features use Shogun Dot Dev's shared account service.

1. Who is responsible

Shogun Dot Dev (Pty) Ltd, South Africa, operates Quiet and this website and is responsible for the personal information it processes through them. Contact legal@shogunn.dev with “Quiet privacy” in the subject for privacy questions or requests.

This policy covers the Quiet Android app, this website, and Quiet's use of the Shogun Account. Other Shogun tools have their own product data and notices. Google, your mobile network, Android and a separate caller ID app also process information under their own policies.

2. Information used on your phone

  • Calls: phone numbers presented by Android, call state and timing, the receiving SIM's label and description when available, rule decisions, repeat-call attempts and your spam or urgent-call classifications. Quiet uses these to manage calls and show its activity view.
  • Contacts: with your permission, names and phone numbers are read to display saved names and help you choose trusted or blocked people. Quiet does not change your phone's address book.
  • Your choices: schedules, trusted lists, personal blocks, country/number-format choices and call-handling preferences are saved on the device.
  • Optional Pro calendar rules (from 0.12.0): with read-only calendar permission, Quiet reads calendar names, identifiers, event times and availability/status to apply your rules during busy timed events on selected calendars. Event titles, descriptions, locations and attendee details are not read. Calendar information stays on your phone and is not sent to Shogun or the ad service.

Quiet does not upload or sync these records to Shogun Dot Dev through account sign-in. It does not record call audio or read SMS messages. Calls you place still pass through Android and your mobile network in the normal way.

Ads on the free plan: Quiet can show a small Google AdMob banner on Log, allowlists and blocked-number lists. Verified Pro access removes ad requests and displays; ads are also suppressed while signed-in access is unresolved, during calls and when a screen with a banner is not visible. Google's ad and privacy services process network and device information, including your IP address (which can suggest a general location), app or device identifiers, ad interactions, privacy choices and diagnostics. Google may store data on your device to deliver and measure ads and remember privacy choices. Quiet requests non-personalized ads, disables publisher first-party IDs and removes advertising-ID access. Other SDK identifiers and network data may still be processed. Quiet does not supply contacts, phone numbers, call activity, calendars, rules or Shogun account details for advertising. See Google's information for apps using its services.

Quiet uses Google's User Messaging Platform to check applicable privacy requirements before requesting ads and to display required consent forms. Review available choices in Settings → Privacy & data → Ads & privacy → Manage ad privacy choices. If the privacy check fails, ads remain off. Changing choices removes the current banner before new ad requests; an earlier request may finish, and information already received by Google remains subject to Google's policies. Non-personalized ads still involve data processing. Older builds used optional demo ads, and testing builds continue to use demo banners that earn no revenue. An earlier test-ad choice is not used as permission for live advertising. Ad availability also depends on Google's account and app approval.

App updates: Quiet checks this website for the minimum supported Android version and saves the result on your phone. This request sends no account token, contact or call record; our hosting provider receives ordinary network information such as your IP address and request time. Google Play's update service uses device metadata, the app version and installed module/asset information to check update availability and size, as described in Google's in-app update data information.

Quiet needs the Android default Phone role to apply its rules and provide the ringing and connected call screens. Optional contacts, notification and full-screen permissions support names and call alerts. You can change permissions or your default Phone app in Android Settings; some features will then stop working.

Caller background photos (optional Pro): you can select one image using Android's file chooser. Quiet reads only the image you select, makes a resized private copy without the original photo metadata, and uses it behind its call screens, including on the lock screen. Quiet does not upload it or share it with our servers, payment providers or advertisers. The copy is saved for your account on that phone, excluded from Android backups and Quiet's encrypted rule backups, and applies only while your Pro access is active. Remove it in Settings > Personalization > Remove caller photo, including after Pro expires. Signing out or deleting the shared account stops it applying but does not erase the local copy; clearing app storage or uninstalling removes it. Selecting an image from a cloud file provider is governed by that provider's own download and privacy practices.

3. Optional accounts and support

Retired closed-test activity reporting: Quiet no longer offers tester enrollment or optional app-presence reporting. The website no longer accepts enrollment or activity uploads, including from older app versions, and the super-admin testing dashboard has been retired. Previously, opted-in testers shared their verified Shogun Account name, email and account ID, enrollment confirmation, app version and server-timed foreground presence. This reporting did not include calls, contacts, phone numbers, rules, device identifiers or background call activity. Older versions may still attempt requests until updated; ordinary network information can reach our hosting and account providers, but no new tester activity is recorded.

Existing activity and dashboard audit records older than 90 days are removed at service startup and daily while the service runs; if it is stopped, cleanup waits for its next run. An older app's Stop and erase activity action still supports authenticated deletion of its recorded activity. Current versions no longer have the Closed testing screen. Roster names, emails, recorded enrollment dates and feedback notes remain in private storage until the tester record is removed. Contact legal@shogunn.dev to request removal, including after losing sign-in or deleting your shared account. Shared account deletion alone does not automatically remove this separate tester store.

Quiet Pro: Quiet sends your sign-in session securely through this website to the Shogun Account service to verify access. Website purchases are verified with Polar using your verified account email and customer identifier. Google Play purchases send the product identifier and purchase token to our account service for verification with Google. Google receives an obfuscated Shogun account identifier to associate the purchase with your account. We store encrypted purchase tokens, hashed ownership identifiers, order references, purchase status and expiry times to restore access, handle renewals and refunds, and prevent duplicate claims. The app receives its account identifier, plan, billing provider, feature access and expiry times, and keeps verified access in protected device storage for up to 24 hours. Your call records, contacts and calendar events are not sent for purchase verification.

Our account service copies Google Play Pro status to Polar customer metadata for support. This does not create a second payment or Polar subscription. Polar processes website payments under its privacy policy; Google Play processes in-app payments under Google's privacy policy. Quiet does not receive or store your full payment-card details. Account deletion cancels linked recurring subscriptions before removing the shared account. Minimal billing records, encrypted purchase tokens and pseudonymous ownership markers may be retained to process late payment events, prevent repeated claims and meet applicable financial-record obligations; provider payment records follow that provider's retention rules.

Optional encrypted backup (from 0.12.0): Pro users can export schedules and list structure as a password-encrypted file, with a separate choice to include trusted phone numbers and personal blocks. Address-book contacts, call history, account credentials and Pro access are excluded. Quiet does not upload the file; Android saves it to the location/provider you select, which may sync it under its own policy. You control transfer and deletion of that file and any copies or provider trash. We cannot recover a forgotten backup password or erase user-held copies when an account is deleted.

If you create or use an account, the shared service processes your name, email address, account identifier, verification status, account role, sign-in methods and session records. For email sign-in, your password is sent over an encrypted connection and the authentication service stores a password hash. If you choose Google sign-in, Google supplies the account details needed for sign-in, such as an identifier, email address, name and profile image where supplied. Quiet does not receive your Google password.

Session and security records can include IP addresses, browser or device information, request times and authentication events. The shared service records the tool used to register and account-related service activity to operate accounts, administer access and understand use of Shogun tools. This is separate from your private call activity.

When you contact us, we process your email address and anything you choose to send, such as a problem description or screenshot. Please remove other people's phone numbers and personal details from support attachments when they are not needed.

4. Why information is processed

We use information to provide requested call and account functions, verify ownership, send account-security emails, control account access, prevent abuse, investigate faults and answer requests. Depending on the activity and applicable law, processing is based on providing the service you request, your permission or consent, legitimate operational and security interests, or a legal obligation. Declining optional account or contacts access does not prevent you from using the remaining local features.

5. Service providers and sharing

  • Hosting and operations: Railway hosts the website and shared services. Hosting and monitoring systems process network requests and operational logs needed to run and secure them.
  • Account emails: Resend delivers verification, password-reset and account-deletion messages using your email address and the relevant message content.
  • Google: optional Google sign-in is subject to Google's privacy policy. If you install through Google Play, Google may provide app stability and distribution reports under its platform settings and policies.
  • Other Shogun tools: shared identity, roles and session information support access to tools you use. Quiet's local contacts, rules and call history are not part of that shared account record. If you have a paid subscription in another tool, its billing provider may process a cancellation when you delete the shared account.

We do not sell your personal information or use your contact list or call records for advertising. Information may also be disclosed where necessary to meet a lawful obligation, protect users and service security, or carry out a business transfer subject to applicable privacy safeguards and notice.

Cloud, email and sign-in providers may process information outside South Africa. Where personal information is transferred internationally, applicable safeguards and lawful transfer conditions must be observed. Contact us for information about the providers and safeguards relevant to your account.

6. Cookies and security

The public pages can be read without signing in. Account features use essential cookies: a sign-in cookie lasting up to seven days and a temporary Google sign-in cookie lasting up to ten minutes. We do not set advertising or analytics cookies on the Quiet website. See Cookies & storage for names, purposes and controls.

The website uses encrypted connections and protects its session cookie from access by page scripts. The Android app stores account credentials using the platform's secure storage facilities. Device rules remain in the app's local storage. No system is completely secure; keep your device locked, update it and avoid sharing account credentials.

7. Retention and deletion

  • Local call activity: Quiet prunes call-decision entries older than seven days when its cleanup runs. If the app is not running, removal can wait until the next cleanup. Rules, trusted lists and blocks remain until changed or local app data is cleared.
  • Shared account: account records are retained while the account is in use. Confirmed deletion removes the central user, linked sign-in identities and shared login sessions after required subscription cancellation succeeds.
  • Verification: account-deletion codes expire after ten minutes and can be used once. Expiry of a code or session does not by itself delete the account.
  • Support, security, billing and backups: records may remain where needed to resolve a request, investigate abuse, meet legal record-keeping duties or maintain recovery backups. The applicable period depends on the record and reason; these records are not all erased by the sign-in-account deletion operation. We restrict retained information to those purposes. Contact us to ask what remains and request deletion where applicable.

Deleting your account affects every Shogun Dot Dev service or tool using that shared account. It does not automatically erase separate product databases, Android's own records or Quiet's local device data. Use the account and data deletion guide for the email-confirmed flow, local removal steps and requests about other tool records.

8. Your choices and rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to your personal information, correction, deletion or restriction, object to relevant processing, and withdraw consent where processing relies on it. Withdrawing consent does not change processing already lawfully carried out. We may need proportionate proof of identity before fulfilling a request.

Email a privacy request and identify the account and information concerned. Do not send a password or confirmation code. You may also complain directly to the South African Information Regulator or the competent regulator in your jurisdiction; contacting us first is not a condition.

9. Children and changes

Quiet is a general-purpose call-management tool and is not directed at children. If you believe a child's personal information has been submitted to our account or support services without any permission required by law, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

We will update this page when practices change and revise the date above. Where a change requires separate notice or consent, an update to this page alone will not replace it.
